Community Chest

We are very proud of our Community Chest scheme here at At Home Estate and Lettings Agency. Our vision is for the Community Chest scheme to encourage property sellers to donate a proportion of their fee to help support local, community based and volunteer run organisations of their choice.

Since launching the scheme in December 2017 we have been honoured to help and support a number of local communities including Know Dementia, Phoenix Stroke Association, Southwater Welcome Club, and Southwater Village Hall Pre-school and Southwater Junior FC as well as working with and supporting almost all of the schools in the district so far.

Positivity Projects

Born out of the pandemic of 2020, our Positivity Projects are designed to bring a happiness and joy to our local area through competitions, campaigns and community activities. During lockdown we ran competitions, rewarded key workers for their amazing work, supported organisations through funding of events that were otherwise lost to the restrictions of lockdown.

We are now committing to running 4 projects each year to launch each Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. We are all extremely excited to see where our next project takes us.

This Girl Can - Positivity Project

Starting the year with our winter Positivity Project we collaborated with several local sport clubs to showcase some of the opportunities we have in the area. The drive behind this campaign is to inspire, support and celebrate our local girls, to remind them how important getting active is both physically and emotionally and to hopefully increase awareness of the fantastic clubs that are currently working so hard to provide vital opportunities within our community.

The groups we collaborated with include:

Nicky, Stacey, Natalie and Paul all took part int this charity cycle event as part of Horsham Matters, Pedal against poverty initiative. Helping to raise funds to provide meals over the summer holidays for families in hardship in the Horsham District. It was exhausting and fun and we were proud to raise money for the brilliant cause.

Football’s coming AtHome Competition – Community Engagement

Celebrating England reaching the Euro Final we ran a selfie competition.  For every football inspired selfie taken in front of our Southwater and Horsham branches we pledged to donate £5 to Southwater Football Club and Southwater Royals. A prize of £80 New Haldi vouchers was also up for grabs for the lucky randomly selected selfie winner. We raised £65 for each football club and a huge well done to Sarah for the great family selfie efforts that won them the prize vouchers.

Hit The Downs – Community Engagement

An event set up to raise vital funds for Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House we supported the riders by working the refreshment stop and providing much needed refuelling snacks and drinks. The event raised over £50,000 for the hospices, an incredible result.

Cakes for teachers – Positivity Projects

Lockdown was proving tough for everyone and we hear that teacher morale was at an all time low. To try and lift spirits and show our thanks we sent cakes to all the staffrooms of the schools that were currently registered with our Community chest scheme. The little Tea house helped up in our mission to spread a little cheer and not only baked the goodies but delivered them to all the schools. The feedback was overwhelming and we absolutely loved reaching out and saying a simple Thank You where it was very much deserved and needed.

Calling all Superheroes! - Positivity Project

In our first ever Positivity Project, we invited local children to design and name their own superhero. Launched in January 2021, we were inundated with fantastic designs of heroic NHS staff, teachers, posties and many more!

It was difficult to pick just one winner from all 60 fantastic entries, so in the end we decided to celebrate all of our superhero superstars with a gift voucher for The Entertainer Toy Shop.

Children’s 100 Challenge – Positivity Project

In recognition of Children’s Mental Health Week and inspired by Captain Sir Tom Moore we challenged children to participate and complete 100 of any activity based task. For every completed tick sheet we received we committed to making a donation to two local charities that support local children’s mental health and wellbeing – Southwater Youth Project and 4TheYouth in Horsham. The response was brilliant and children did laps round their gardens, completed 100 bounces on their trampolines, 100 keepy uppy’s were achieved and many more. We are thrilled to be able to donate £100 to both SYP and 4TheYouth.

Design an Easter Egg Box - Positivity Project

Another of our key aims with our helping hub is to work with a range of incredible local businesses, and it doesn't get much better than The Solid Chocolate Company or Storm Printing! For our Easter positivity project, we invited local children to design their own easter egg box, which would then be printed with a solid chocolate easter egg inside. Yummy!

Christmas Card competition – Positivity Project

This year we invited local school children to design our Christmas card. The top prize was £100 to the school of the winner together with a set of printed Christmas cards. The Solid Chocolate Company kindly donated their Half Kilo cholate bars for the runners up. We had such a phenomenal response, with over 170 entries, we extended the prizes to two top prizes. Well done to Lily from Southwater Junior Academy and Lara from Greenway Academy for winning the top prizes and Harry from Southwater Infant Academy and Max from Arunside who came runners up. All the designs were brilliantly festive and it was super difficult to make the final decision, well doe to all the children who entered.
